Week Four #crit101

Originally published here.

This week I had to critically analyse an article. Here is the link to my finished article https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nVHJJdORpuaDjQmDJPKz-fmkyI8kGdteAhlWKFdafos/pub

At first, I found it very difficult to start the task and was slightly unsure about how to approach it. I think I should have started with a question, but I was unsure what question to use. So, instead, I followed all the steps on the blog (which I found very helpful).

This was probably the point where I should have asked someone for help. But I didn’t really interact with anyone apart from doing the discussion, all week. I know you said it was important to communicate with others; so next week, my target will be to do this as I think it will benefit me. I mentioned in an earlier blog post that I sometimes felt slightly intimidated by others and felt I had to be perfect first time. I think I still need to improve this, but I’m getting there… slowly.

I also struggled throughout writing the task, but I was determined to finish the task. This is one of the skills I think that I have as an independent learner: determination. I also think that I have improved in this, as the course delvelops (and in my opinion) gets harder, I think I have become more and more determined to complete the tasks. Even if they weren’t amazing, I still did them. If I wasn’t so determined and motivated, I don’t think I would have finished the task.

So yes, it’s maybe not the best critically written assaingment, but I think I tried my best. I’m sure you’ll tell me lots of ways that it can be improved, but I can improve. That’s what life is all about: improving. I don’t have to get things right first time, I just have to try. I think that for my first piece of critical writing, I did alright. This week’s assaignment has definetly helped me improve my reading and analysis skills and hopefully, they will develop further still…
