#Crit101 Week 5 – Synthesis and Evaluation

My section of the group’s video

So far this week, our group hasn’t had much communication with each other, and therefore we haven’t managed to edit the individual clips together into one video yet.

My part of the video is based on the positivity that eggs and chickens can have one people. I managed to break down into 50 seconds the way that chicken soup can bring a person comfort, and how raw eggs can help bodybuilders achieve their goals. Overall, the point I was trying to make in my video was that eggs and chickens provide positive feelings for people, and that is why they are the food of the people. I used my phone to record and upload the video, which consisted of my talking whilst showing some images to support my points on my computer screen to the camera. I edited the video by making it slightly shorter, brighter and less shaky later on y computer using the built in editor on Youtube.

This week has shown me the importance of others in learning. Whilst learning can be a personal task, especially in independent learning, however having others around you to aid your learning can be a great help. Working in a group takes away some of the pressure that working alone can sometimes have. It also ensures that everyone in the group understands their role in the task, and that everyone should get a fair and equal amount of work to do.

Overall, this week would have been better if there had been more communication in our group, however I think that as individuals in our group, we still managed to get the work done well. We just need to work out a way of bringing all our efforts together as one.

This week’s assignment was to create a video on the question ‘Chicken and/or Egg: Food of the People?’

We had to interpret the question in our own ways and create a video that showed how we interpreted the question.
Emma and I discussed what we were going to put into the video and what we were going to say in the video. I offered to edit the videos together and produce the final video. So, Emma sent me her video and I got inspiration on doing the same kind of video (the idea came from ICT).
At first, I was sepitical that I would fit everything in for around 2 minutes, but after putting everything together I found that it fit 2 minutes exactly! Which was a relief!
Creating and editing the video was fun and I got in touch with my technical skills.
This activity has contributed to my development as an in(ter)dependent learner as I interpreted the question in my own way, meaning it could go in many directions, but I chose how I thought it should go, which means I am gripping onto my independence skills.

I also made sure that I took on as much work as my peer did, so the work was equal and fair. I believe this is important in becoming an in(ter)dependent learner as you have to take responsibilities for your work and not leave it for only one person to do.

This week’s assignment was fun and I also got to get in touch with my ICT skills which was useful.

This week I had to create a video synthesising and evaluating my conclusions. I really enjoyed this task because it was a creative task and allowed freedom. Although at first I was unsure what direction to go in, others were very helpful and soon I knew exactly what I was doing. I found the process of creating the video fun. Isobelle edited the video for my group and she did it really well. I think the task also contributed to me being an independent learner. As well as this, I also found I managed my time better which is definetly good.
